Day 20 Thursday June 6

Long ride today but we had nice weather, sunny, not too hot and for most of the ride we had a partial tail wind. Partial means it was coming from our side but from slightly behind us. In any case it was a wonderful day to ride. Leaving a city is always a challenge since you have to deal with rush hour traffic and lots of turns to get out of the city. Once you are out and on the road then it is more enjoyable. The traffic was not too bad and so we made good time. In looking at the pictures I am posting below they all look the same. That is because the views were similar all along the route today. I suppose I could have taken some pictures of the towns that we went through but they are just the same store fronts over and over.

We travelled along the coast for much of the trip and then turned inland to connect to the island of Pag over a large bridge. Once we got on the island the landscape was very bleak. Nothing was growing. It wasn’t until about halfway to the city of Pag before we started seeing some scrub growth near the ocean but the area away form the ocean was still very desolate.

The hotel is somewhat isolated but has a nice bar and a beach front so it will be a pleasant place to stay. When I arrived at the hotel I was cheered in by a group of drunk Germans staying at the hotel. They gave me a standing ovation as the first one to arrive. Tomorrow is ferry day. Our trip is broken up into several sections connected by ferry rides. Should be interesting.
