We are in the Netherlands, our last country. Tomorrow we arrive at Amsterdam. The ride today was short, easy and beautiful. Our hotel tonight has air conditioning although we probably no longer need it. It was 92 degrees when I went to bed last night and 56 degrees when I got up this morning. During the night the southern winds which were bringing heat from north Africa shifted and we began getting wind from the North off of the North Sea. As a result the ride today was cool with a brisk wind. The only cities we went through were small towns so most of the day was on bike paths through fields. We were generally in view of the river which is no longer the Rhine. We were following the Neder-Rijn. It is also a large river with lots of barge traffic but very few, if any, sight seeing boats.
Tonight we are walking to a nearby restaurant for dinner and Toby, our videographer, is presenting a slide show of some of the photos, and maybe videos, he has taken during the tour. It should be fun. Tomorrow we finish and the ride has more climbing in it that we have had for some time. Still not much compared to what we have been through. The ride is 105K so not too long and we should get into Amsterdam early afternoon. We will have a celebration dinner tomorrow night and then people will start packing up to head home.
